The Mission of the Chaska Lions Club is to serve the greater Chaska community through volunteering and charitable donations. Our local chapter has reflected that mission throughout their many years within our community, donating over $3 million to civic organizations and causes such as the Carver County Sheriff’s Dive Team, Benefit Bashers, Carver County Community Development Agency, Auburn Homes, Patriot Assistance Dogs, Kidsight Screening, Chaska High School scholarships, Integrated Arts Academy, Flags and Honor, Launch Ministry, and the Lions Club International Foundation. The club has also been a generous supporter of the Chaska History Society – answering our need not only with providing funds to “keep the lights on,” so to speak, but also when an insurance premium was due and when we needed banner equipment. “We really couldn’t fulfill our mission of ‘stimulating community engagement in history by collecting, preserving, recording and sharing Chaska’s past and evolving history’ without the generous annual support of the Lions,” stated Lisa Oberski, society president. “I encourage all to support this great organization either by becoming an active member or by purposely seeking out ways to contribute to their causes.”
Jay Molnau provided information for this article, and is a History Center volunteer and Board member of the Chaska Historical Society and the Chaska Lions. He is a great example of the Lions’ philosophy, and serves as a liaison between the organizations as well as being the “go-to” person when logistic help is needed.
